AITV5: OUR CAMERA MAN ARJAY DURAN WON PRESTIGIOUS PHOTO JOURNALISM CONTEST

ACI student & AITV5 Camera Man Arjay Duran holds his plate trophy

Once again the Aemilianum College, Inc. and the AITV5 stand tall in Sorsogon City due to the recent victory of one of our students and technical staff member MR. ARJAY DURAN.

Arjay roamed around the school campus for several days looking for an appropriate camera to use for the seminar and competition and was already sad for almost a week until his Kuya Sau, our very own AITV5 technical director MR. ROSAURO AMISTOSO offered his professional camera. And the rest is history... I mean the boy was able to join the seminar and had won 1st Prize in the much coveted Photography contest whose participants included known professionals in the city such as media personnel, college instructors, famous photography enthusiasts whose works had been posted in the webs, etc.

I was able to talk to some of his fellow participants and they were all praise for Arjay. One of the first to congratulate him was MR. ERNIE ATIENZA, the champion in last December 2007 photo journalism contest in the city sponsored by the city government of Sorsogon. Ernie is also one of our computer instructors and teachers in ACI so his acknowledgment his a big boost in the morale of the young man who was so nervous competing with one of his educators and a reigning champion at that.

Another one who immediately sent her congratulatory greet is Ms. Bing Fortin. Bing is dear to us Somascans because her parents are one of the members of Casa Miani-Augusta & Piera Foster Parents Association. She was formerly working in the media arm of the Sorsogon Diocese and just returned from Netherlands where she had further studies.

It is also to be noted that one of his runner up winners came from Sorsogon State College. This government owned school has a population of thousands and is a repository of countless talents. Yet he bested their very best.
